Workmens Compensation Lawyers, Lets Raise Minimum Wage; No Lets Not, Say We Did, We Have
The debate to raise minimum wage in California is totally negated. The debate holds no weight because workmen's compensation rates are completely out of control there. Arnold the Governator was able to get a little reform but with all the lawsuits flying it is no use, the system is broken. How can the employers pay the workers anymore, they are already paying more only the insurance companies are getting the money not the workers. This recent article is very telling indeed. "62 Pizza Hut Restaurants Close Over Workers' Comp" http://www.sandiego.com/sdbusiness.jsp 62 Restaurants? At an average of 20 employees each? Ouch, but as this makes the news how many small business people who employ similar numbers of people of between 5-15 people close each day due to issues which come from unnecessary lawsuits? Hmm? For instance in this case employment lawsuits drove up the costs of workmen's compensation insurance. Terry Greenberg of AIG, world's largest insurance company stated: "The Trial Lawyers are the Real Terrorists" which anyone who really studied the situation would have a hard time arguing that. If you raise minimum wage on top of the workmen's compensation costs, well there just will not be any jobs anyway? And apparently no pizza either? Bummer I like the thick crust with the cheese inside. The problem in the story; "Who Stole the Cheese" from Pizza Hut is that the workmen's compensation rates have been driven up by lawyers and lawsuits and the costs of health care. There are many business models, which will fail to be profitable at a certain point as costs go hyperbolic. QSRs Quick Service Restaurants in San Diego's high dollar and high cost of living area is simply one of them. Insurance costs for workmen's compensation could be as high as 100% with only a few incidents and those incidents may be fictitious claims, conjured up by chiropractors, perpetrators in cahoots with lawyers out to make fast money on the back of businesses. Is the US the world's co-signer and if so, shouldn't we have a few guarantees and a level playing field? One could say by increasing their economies, we develop a middle class there and their citizens will then be able to afford what we sell, this is good. However if for instance Mexico trades and buys most of their consumables from China, then the money will flow to their shores instead of ours. However if we (our businesses and citizens) invest in China then we will get back some of this in growth. One could conclude that although there is a trade deficit in consumables those who of us who own mutual funds, which have emerging markets strategies, we will receive benefit and return of those dollars. When simply looking at the trade deficits, one might conclude we are in dire straights, that of course being a factual short-term view, but on further review one might also see the long-term strategy and see that as the world comes closer together everyone wins. Losers because anyone in the market place who was winning does not have time to show up, they are too busy producing and participating in their respective industries. So they hire attorneys to show up and talk with regulators. Those attorneys who have no real clients of any value also show up because they know be getting in bed with the regulators and bending over a little, they can get the occasional reach around in the process and a little juice. This can help them get good corporate clients and make big bucks. All these scoundrel, I mean attorneys have to do is promise the regulators jobs when they get sick of the bureaucracy. This would be every fast food restaurant, small business service van franchise or dog groomer in the state, which was a franchised outlet. The average cost of such audits in Maryland due to all the Maryland lawyers suing is about $40,000. Now obviously this would kill small businesses in the state and cause the raising of prices to all consumers who bought a burger, got a hair cut or had their dogs groomed and the small businesses would have to pass the costs on. We were able to get that asinine proposed bill killed in committee. What kind of a moron could come up with a bill? Well believe it or not such bills pop up all time around our country. One such bill is the Sarbaines Oxley bill, yep came from another Merry Lander Senator Sarbaines who probably sees his ignorant mistake and is NOT running for re-election.
