A Mothers Day Prayer! Mamma Whispered Softly!

Patty Lovelace Country Music

Verse #1
Through the back window of a 59 wagon
I watched my best friend Jannie slippin away
I kept on waving, til I couldn't see her
And through my tears I asked again
Why we couldn't stay

Chorus
Mamma whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life's about changing nothing stays the same
And she said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It's ok to hurt and it's ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say goodbye?

Verse #2
I sit on our bed, he packed his suitcase
I held a picture of our wedding day
His hands were trembling, we both were crying
He kissed me gently and he quickly walked away

Chorus
I called up mamma she said time will ease yourpain
Life's about changing nothing stays the same
She said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It's ok to hurt its ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say good-bye?

Verse #3
Sittin with Mamma alone in her bedroom
She opened her eyes and then squeezed my hand
She said, I have to go now, my time is over
And with her final words she tried to help meunderstand

Chorus
Mamma whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life's about changing nothing stays the same
And she said, how can I help you say goodbye?
It's ok to hurt; it's ok to cry
Come let me hold you and I will try
How can I help you say goodbye?

Today we are recognizing Mother's Day. Let usremind ourselves that nothing can be morestrengthening than a mother's love for herchild. And no love could be greater than Mary's love for herson, Jesus.

I often wonder what was Mary thinkingwhen she watched her son being crucified that dayupon the cross? Was she thinking of the timesJesus was a child and his feelings were hurt eachtime they move from city to city?

What about thetime when one of Jesus' closest friends betrayedhim and he had to walk away from the relationship. She was there with a hug of support? Or maybeshe was thinking of the time when Jesus couldn'tunderstand why death had to come in life? Eachtime she was there to offer him strength of ashoulder, the love of an unconditional heart, and aword of comfort.

But, what was Jesus thinking as he hung there onthe cross looking down at his weeping mother?Thank you mamma for the kisses when I fell andhurt myself on the gravel in the driveway.

Thank you mamma for helping me understand that lovingand losing is better than not loving at all.

And thank you mamma for being here when death is sohard to face. I have to think in some place downdeep in Jesus' heart through all the pain andsuffering his body was going through at the timephysically while he looked down and realized hismother was there he remembered;

Mamma whispered softly, time will ease your painLife's about changing nothing stays the sameAnd she said, how can I help you say goodbye? It's ok to hurt; it's ok to cryCome let me hold you and I will tryHow can I help you say goodbye?

Back then as it is today, mammas give us strength, love and many times understanding when we need itthe most. Let us today and everyday remembertthat if it wasn't for our mothers, changes inlife, hurts on the play grounds, and tears fromour hearts may be just too unbearable for us totake. Thank you mamma for loving us, but most of allthank you for being there at the foot of the crossand loving Jesus Christ.
