The Clichés of Success

The problem with writing about success is that almost everything ends up sounding like a cliché. It has all been said before. It has all been read or heard before. There are no new secret formulas; no new tricks to creating success or being successful; nothing new to write about.

If you are reading this, it is highly likely that you should already know all there is to know about creating the success and prosperity you desire. Somewhere, sometime, you have already read or heard exactly what you need to know to be a success. And that is exactly the problem.

I could write that you need to have a vision to follow; an ideal that inspires you to action. "Yeah, yeah." you've heard it before. "I know that." It's become a cliché. One of the flaws of the human intellect is the tendency to look at something, recognize it, and then immediately judge it as known and therefore not needing a closer look or a second look.

'Write your goals down.'

"Yeah, yeah."

'Set clear, specific, time-related goals.'

"Yeah, yeah."

'Purpose plus passion plus persistence = prosperity.'

"Yeah, yeah."

'Your thoughts and beliefs create your reality.'

"Yeah, yeah."

There is a huge difference between knowing of a person and knowing a person. You might know their name. You might know what they look like. You might know what they do for a living. You might even know what their favorite food is, but do you really know that person? Do you know what is in their heart and their mind?

There is also a huge difference between knowing about the principles of success and knowing the principles of success. You may recognize them when you see them. You may even be able to recite them by rote. But you don't actually know them unless you live them. You may recognize the words, but until, and unless, you are actually living (applying) them, you do not actually know what you think you know.

If I were to ask you right now..."What is your vision that guides your life?"...could you give me a succinct and distinct answer? Could you write it down in a one or two sentence paragraph?

What is your purpose? What is your passion? What are your goals? What are your predominant thoughts? What are your core beliefs? What does success mean to you?

Can you give me a clear (and honest) answer in under a minute to each of these questions?

Can you then tell me exactly how you are living your knowledge of success principles?

Success comes from having clearly defined ideals combined with a fervent desire defined by clear, written, time-defined, goals that are worked towards every day and persisted in until they are made manifest. Yeah, yeah, I know it's a cliché. Your success is either empowered by, or inhibited by, your recurring, predominant thoughts patterns and your core beliefs about yourself and success itself. Yeah, yeah, I know...it's a cliché.

Yes, writing about success almost always ends up sounding like a cliché. Wouldn't it be great if your own success was a cliché, something taken for granted by you and all who think they know you?
